Glen Campbell: His Musical Journey

Come and celebrate a native son. Enjoy the music and learn about the life of singer/songwriter (and actor) Glen Campbell, beginning with his rise from humble beginnings in Delight, Arkansas to the heights of popularity and a career that spanned five decades. Tap your feet to some of his classic hits, including Southern Nights, Wichita Lineman, Rhinestone Cowboy, By The Time I Get to Phoenix, and Galveston.
Dr. Gary Barrow, Professor Emeritus from Arkansas Tech University, will use a combination of lectures, group discussions, and audio and video recordings to cover this remarkable artist. The class will trace Campbell’s life from his days playing with the Wrecking Crew through the tragic last years of his life when he struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease and provided inspiration to longtime fans and a host of new ones.

Gary Barrow
Dr. Gary Burrow was a Professor of Music at Arkansas Tech University for thirty-five years where he taught applied trumpet and horn and also served as conductor of the University Brass Choir. While at Tech he developed courses in American music with emphasis on Jazz and Folk music. As a trumpet performer Dr. Burrow played in the United States Army Band (Pershing's Own) in Washington, D.C. in addition to symphony orchestras in Colorado Springs, Fort Smith, Little Rock, and Fayetteville.
