Introduction to Broadcast Meteorology

Lecture (1 session) | FULL

Dan Skoff, Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, and KNWA’s chief meteorologist will discuss various weather-related topics including severe weather safety. Following the class presentation, you will travel to the KNWA and FOX 24 television studios where participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at how a television station operates and the work that goes into broadcasting your daily local news and weather. Wear comfortable clothing as you will be doing a lot of walking.

Dan Skoff

Dan Skoff joined KNWA as the chief meteorologist in June 2006. He is a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and achieved his CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) certificate and became AMS certified. His broadcasting career before Northwest Arkansas includes cities such as Oklahoma City, Amarillo and Little Rock. Dan has been awarded three Mid-American EMMYs for best weathercast in 2016, 2021 and 2022.
