Ozark / Arkansas Writers Book Club
Course (4+ sessions) | Available (Membership Required)
Class members will explore the culture of Arkansas and the Ozarks through four thoughtfully selected books by regional authors. The reading schedule includes The Last Independence Day by Raymond Niblock on March 5; Broiler by Eli Cranor on April 2; Forgotten Girls by Monica Potts on May 7; and Blood in Their Eyes by Grif Stockley on June 4.
Participants are responsible for obtaining and reading each book before class. (Recommended: Pearl’s Books will give a discount to OLLI Book Club members).
The class meets on the first Wednesday of each month.

Marilyn Heifner
Marilyn Heifner spearheaded the effort to preserve aviation history in NWA by starting the Arkansas Air Museum. She is the retired Executive Director of the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission, which was located on the Square for 22 years. In 2023, she received the Washington County Distinguished Citizen Award and the City of Fayetteville Historic Preservation Award. As president of the Evergreen Cemetery Board, Marilyn has researched the lives of those buried there, whose stories tell Fayetteville's history.
