Dismantling Bias in Healthcare

Study Group (2-3 session | Registration opens Tuesday, February 4, 2025 10:00 AM

In this course, Dr. D’Andre Jones, currently the Community Liaison and Social Services lead for Behavioral Health at NW Medical, addresses the explicit and implicit prejudices that healthcare providers often hold against marginalized groups, including racial and ethnic minorities. Such attitudes impact patient-clinician communication, clinical decision-making, and institutional practices, perpetuating health disparities.

Participants will explore the types of prejudices, understand the concept of implicit attitudes, and learn strategies to recognize and counter these influences in their practices. Through interactive discussions and skills training, the course aims to foster lasting behavioral change and promote equitable care for all patients. By the end, participants will be equipped to create a more inclusive healthcare environment.
