Foundations of Drawing: Portraits, Perspective, and Landscapes

Join OLLI for an immersive six-week drawing course designed for complete beginners, led by Diane Stinebaugh, an award-winning watercolor and acrylic artist, whose expertise also includes drawing with pens, pencils, and charcoal. This hands-on class will guide you through the essential techniques of drawing, focusing on three key areas: landscapes, perspective drawing, and portrait drawing.
In the first two weeks, you will connect with nature as you learn to draw landscapes. The following two weeks will introduce you to the principles of perspective drawing. In the final two weeks, you will explore the fundamentals of capturing the human face.
Whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to refresh your skills, this course offers a supportive environment to foster creativity and growth. Take a journey into the art of drawing, where you will build a strong foundation and create beautiful works of art.

This class will meet in person at the OLLI offices, located at 481 S. Shiloh Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72704. Please read your class reminder email for the exact room location.

Diane Stinebaugh
Diane Stinebaugh is an award-winning watercolor and acrylic artist, best known for her realistic depictions of animals and outdoor scenes. Inspired by nature, Diane's work captures the beauty of the natural world with vibrant watercolor techniques. A former art educator, she taught for over 30 years, including 22 years at Fayetteville High School, where she also founded the National Art Honors Society chapter. Diane holds a Master’s in Education and has illustrated children's books. In her free time, she is an artist, painting in mostly watercolors and drawing with pens, pencils, and charcoal.
