Scratchboard Art

Class | Registration opens Tuesday, February 4, 2025 10:00 AM

Join local mixed media artist, poet, and journal keeper Julie Jeannene Rickard for an exciting exploration of scratchboard art! This direct engraving technique involves using a sharp tool to scratch away a dark outer layer, revealing the light pigment beneath. The fundamental techniques of scratch art intersect with drawing, printmaking, and sculpture, making it an excellent process for artists of all levels to learn.

In this hands-on class, Julie will guide students through various applications, helping them create unique scratch art pieces perfect for display or as thoughtful gifts. Scratch-art is not only simple and satisfying but also full of surprises, allowing participants to express their creativity in an engaging way. Come discover the joys of scratchboard art with Julie! All materials for the class will be provided.
