Tony Hilliard
Anthony A. (Tony) Hilliard is the Senior Director of Planned Giving at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville where he assists the University and its donors in all aspects of gifts and bequests through wills, trusts and designations to the University. Formerly, he was a partner in the law firm of Ramsay, Bridgforth, Robinson and Raley LLP, Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he is now, of counsel. He has been named to the Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law and Trusts and Estates (2006-Present). He received the 2021 Legislation Award from the Arkansas Bar Association, the 2006 Lawyer Community Legacy Award for outstanding community service, the 2011 Charles Carpenter Award for service to the Bar and the Arkansas Society of CPA’s 2006 and 2022 Mac Angel Discussion Leader of the Year Award for tax courses he teaches for the Society. Prior to becoming a lawyer Tony was a Certified Public Accountant with 15 years of experience in banking and corporate finance. He graduated from Hendrix College (1978, BA Econ and Business), the American Bankers Association School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin (1984, Highest Honors), UALR School of Law (Associate Law Review Editor) (1996), and Southern Methodist University School of Law, LL.M. (Taxation) (1998). Tony’s Arkansas-wide law practice emphasized tax, estate planning and probate law, focusing on the legal needs of small businesses. He is married to Rev. Mary Susan Hilliard (retired). They have two children, Katie and Kara and three grandchildren. Professional activities include member of the Arkansas Society of CPAs and the Arkansas Bar Association, Past President of the Arkansas Bar Association (2017-2018), Chair of the Ark Bar Board of Governors (2014-2015). Past Secretary/Treasurer of the Ark Bar Political Action Committee and past Chair of the Ark Bar Tax Section. Tony serves on the joint ABA and ASCPA Federal Tax Institute Committee and has chaired it three times. Tony authors Chapter 13 of the Arkansas Practice Series, Probate and Estate Administration (Thomson Reuters). He served as Chancellor (lawyer) of the Arkansas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (2008-2015). Tony is an Eagle Scout.
