Shakespeare On Film: Two Great Hamlets
Class | Registration opens Tuesday, February 3, 2026 10:00 AM
Many people believe that Hamlet was William Shakespeare’s finest play. Join David Jolliffe, Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Arkansas, as he investigates Hamlet through the lens of two (both excellent) film versions: Kenneth Branagh’s 1996 film (starring Branagh himself in the title role and Michael Almereyda’s 2000 version (with Ethan Hawke in the title role). The two films will be compared and contrasted by Mr. Jolliffe, who has been teaching, directing, and acting in Shakespeare plays for the past 54 years.
This program will meet in person at OLLI Headquarters (HQ), located at 481 S. Shiloh Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72704. Please read your class reminder email for the exact room location.
Class changes occasionally happen; please watch for (and read) announcements or emails from OLLI regarding your class.
