Chasing Waterfalls: The Glory Hole (CR)
Hike | Registration opens Tuesday, February 3, 2026 10:00 AM
Come enjoy an adventurous full-day outing to one of Arkansas’s most unique and memorable waterfalls: the Glory Hole. Home to hundreds of natural waterfalls, Arkansas comes alive during the wetter seasons— and the Glory Hole stands out as one of the most extraordinary. Here, Dismal Creek has carved a perfect round opening through an overhanging bluff, sending water plunging 30 feet through the rock to the rugged canyon below.
This challenging 1.8-mile out-and-back hike features a downhill descent to the creek and a steady uphill return, making it best suited for regularly active hikers comfortable with uneven, rocky terrain. Expect a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach the trailhead.
Participants are to wear comfortable clothing, shoes, bring water bottle(s), and a hiking pole. Meeting location and other information will be sent to participants upon registration.
Activity level: 3.
This option is the Commuter Rate (CR) option.
This program meets in person. Participants will drive themselves (commuter rate) to the program location or may elect to meet the transportation group (details to be provided) and follow the van to the destination. This is highly encouraged. Meeting details will be sent in the program reminder.
