Don't Let Falls Trip You Up: Learn, Move, Prevent

This interactive program helps older adults reduce their risk of falls while maintaining confidence and independence. Led by Physical Therapist (PT) Dr. Jennifer Vincenzo and Occupational Therapist (OT) Dr. John (Johnny) Rider, the session combines practical education with actionable strategies to prevent falls in daily life.
Participants will learn how factors such as strength, vision, medications, and home setup influence stability. The program introduces simple exercises to improve mobility and offers tips for creating safer environments. Participants will leave with increased awareness, practical tools, and greater confidence to remain active and steady.

John Rider
Dr. John (Johnny) Rider is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Disorders and Occupational Therapy at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Rider is a licensed occupational therapist with dual board certifications in Gerontology and Physical Rehabilitation. He is also an Assistive Technology Professional and an ASL interpreter. His research and clinical practice have focused on fall prevention, health promotion, and fear of falling avoidance behavior.
Jennifer Vincenzo
Dr. Jennifer Vincenzo is a Professor of Physical Therapy at UAMS and board-certified clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy and health promotion. Her work focuses on fall prevention, health promotion, and implementation of evidence-based practices for older adults. Globally recognized, she translates evidence-based strategies into clinical practice. She serves on the World Falls Guidelines Implementation Workgroup and collaborates with the National Council on Aging, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Physical Therapy Association, and the American Geriatric’s Society on falls prevention efforts.
