A native Arkansan, Mr. John Brummett is a distinguished member of the Arkansas Hall of Fame for columnists, recognized for his insightful contributions to political discourse in the state. His writing journey began in high school, where he started as a sophomore reporter for his school newspaper. By his senior year, he was contributing to the Arkansas Democrat each morning before classes.
Brummett pursued his education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and later moved to Conway, where he served as the sports editor for the Arkansas Democrat from 1973 to 1977 while attending the University of Central Arkansas. He returned to Little Rock as a political reporter for the Arkansas Gazette, where he penned his first regular column in 1986.
In 1990, Brummett transitioned to the role of editor for both the Arkansas Times and Arkansas Business, while continuing to write for the Arkansas Democrat.
