Christy Abrams, Hard of Hearing Specialist, and Kim Minard, Deaf Specialist from the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing will share great insight on factors that impact people who are Hard of Hearing or Deaf. Communication access, emotional impact, assistive technology, culture sensitivity, self advocacy and beyond will be discussed, with plenty of time for Q & A.
ACDHH will provide ASL Interpreters and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) "captions" for this class.

Christy Abrams is the Hard of Hearing Specialist with the State of Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (ACDHH). As a person who has been navigating severe bilateral hearing loss since childhood she is passionate about presenting for consumers, employers, healthcare and public safety professionals, across Arizona. She works one-on-one with hard of hearing consumers every day, providing them with information and resources so that they may live independent and empowered lives.
