Learn the basics of investing using "fun money" you can afford to set aside. This workshop covers how to open a brokerage account with platforms such as E*TRADE or Robinhood, understand stocks and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), and learn common investing terms such as ticker symbols, stock splits, and IPOs. Participants will review financial news and company data to identify potential investments and discuss when it may be appropriate to sell.

Barbara Gonzalez is Accounting Faculty and the Chair for Business Computing Studies at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She has been teaching accounting for more than 20 years. Before going into education, she worked for various Certified Public Accounting firms for 10 years.
