101 Evolving Role of Art Institutions in Today's World
Art, Culture, Music, Tra | Registration opens 4/15/25 9:00 AM EDT
Rex Redd, the Director of the Oak Ridge Art Center, will share his background and how it manifested into the role of directing one of the more unique art institutions in the southeast. He will discuss how technology, access, and cultural changes have forced art institutions, such as the Oak Ridge Art Center to adapt and change for the new world around us. Should museums buck the trend and try to be a refuge from a society that is plugged in 24/7 and moving at the speed of light, or do they join the fray to engage with new and evolving generations? Perhaps a little of both? Examples of how the Art Center is adapting to these changes, and its proposed future will be discussed.
