One might imagine the theatre we witness today has always been the same throughout history. However, theatre evolved from its roots in ritual and storytelling to the ancient Greeks to the modern theatre in the 21st Century. Theatre’s path to today was filled with real-life drama. Let’s explore.

 

Steven McBride

Steven Patrick McBride has instructed Introduction to Theatre since 2005 at Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, and Ohio University.  Steven’s acting credits include Sorin in “The Seagull”, and “Ensemble in Love and Information”, both at Pellissippi State.  His directing credits include “My Fair Lady”, “The Memory of Water, A Thousand Cranes”, “The Heidi Chronicles”, “The Fantasticks”, and “Six Characters in Search of an Author”.  Steven assisted in instructing theatre movement at Robert Brustein’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University as an intern at the American Repertory Theatre.  He has worked on productions with theatre luminaries Arthur Kopit, Larry Gelbart, F. Murray Abraham, Cherry Jones, and Christopher Lloyd, among others.  He has composed the music for several University of Tennessee productions, where he holds an MFA in Performance.  He is part of the Theatre Faculty at PSCC.
