160 Natural History Lessons for Making Field and Woodland Walks More Exciting, Part 3
Computers, Science, Tech | Registration opens 4/15/25 9:00 AM EDT
Field Trip: Tuesday, September 2: We will meet at the CRESO Research building from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. After a brief review we will head to the field. This is a great time of year to hangout in patches of goldenrod and observe insect activity ranging from pollinators to predator-prey interactions. As you will learn in lecture, goldenrod is an insect pollinated plant and thus the pollen is sticky, unlike ragweed pollen which is blown about in copious quantities by the wind. Odds are it is ragweed causing your miserable allergy reactions and not goldenrod. Unfortunately, these plants have overlapping bloom times. We promise not to engage in “bonger” warfare! September 4 will be our alternate date.
Note: Field trip safety is always first and foremost. You are encouraged to wear long pants and hiking boots. Please inform us of any medical conditions that might interfere with your field trip enjoyment. Trips will involve walking for short distances.
