Robert Eby will give a description of the State Board of Education (SBE), who the board is, the roles and responsibilities of the members followed by a discussion of the hot issues of the day, and what the State Board and Tennessee education is facing.

Robert Eby is currently the Chairman of the Tennessee State Board of Education after serving 4 years as Vice-Chair. He was appointed to the State Board by Governor Haslam in 2018 to represent the 3rd Congressional District. His appointment came after 16 years of service over a 30-year time span on the Oak Ridge Board of Education. Eby was reappointed to the Board in 2023 by Lt. Governor Randy McNally to serve through March 2028. He also serves on KFI, a local organization dedicated to supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville, and is on the Global Community Fellowship Board, a missionary board to support Mayan people in Mexico. Eby and his wife reside in Oak Ridge.
