This will be a series of classes that will cover the following topics:

  1. The American founding and selected battles of the revolution.
  2. The creation of the American military; and veterans of east Tennessee.
  3. Lessons learned for today’s military – Chickamauga.
  4. Spanish American War and why it matters.
  5. Bastogne before the battle and medical care in a bad place.

 


Michael Thornton

Michael Thornton is a retired military officer who taught history and foreign affairs at military schools to provided context for current and future operations. He teaches historical lessons learned for military units in Georgia and Tennessee. He earned a master's degree in public administration from Jacksonville State University. He has also earned a graduate certificate in US History from Ashland University. This additional two years post graduate study has helped him illustrate his real love, US history.
