305 Attack on the American Homeland and WW I: Won the War but Lost the Peace

This class discusses the attack on the American homeland and the resulting “punitive expedition” in Mexico. This served as a trial run for America’s entry into WW I, or did it? This class will include a brief overview of WWI and discussion of the treaty that ended “the war to end all wars.”
Michael Thornton
Mike Thornton is a retired U.S. Army officer and helicopter pilot. His early assignments were as an AeroScout pilot on the east German and Czechoslovakian border where he trained with other NATO militaries to defend Europe during the Cold War. He served six years in Europe and has conducted research around the
world to help understand the American experience.
Mike is an adjunct professor of U.S. history at Roane State Community College. He earned a master’s degree from Jacksonville State University and has recently completed an intensive post graduate study of U.S. history at Ashland University.
