This class is a synopsis of a Master Gardener Scotland Study Abroad course I took in 2025 through Purdue University Horticulture Department. Historical periods covered include The Renaissance, 17th Century Palladian, 18th Century Parklands, 19th Century Formal Public Gardens, 20th Century Plant Collections, and late 20th Century Modern and Abstract Gardens.

Jan Lyons

Jan Lyons has taught a variety of classes for ORICL from pickleball and gardening to economics. She has a life-long interest in all plants, especially wildflowers, native, and heirloom species both locally and around the world. As Education Director of Anderson County Master Gardeners, Dr. Lyons draws on her contacts and experiences with gardening pros to provide information for enjoyable and successful gardening.
