Bobbi Jo Henderson and her husband began building their homestead in Anderson County in 2013. What started as a desire to grow their own food and live more intentionally has grown into a full-scale, diversified farm that they operate alongside their full-time careers in public safety.
This class will cover the following topics:
- Discuss what is “homesteading”
- How to be more self-sufficient
- Gardening, animal husbandry, bee keeping
- How to preserve food for long-term storage
- Backyard opportunities – container gardening, meat rabbits, and quail
Bobbi Jo Henderson
Bobbie Jo Henderson is the Deputy Director of Education with Anderson County EMS. She and her husband own and operate Henderson Farms LLC. She gardens, grows berries, and maintains an orchard with both apples and pears. She grows herbs to produce her tinctures, infused oils, and herbal teas. She preserves food - canning, freeze-drying, dehydrating, and putting up meats. They raise cattle, sheep, pigs, laying hens, quail, rabbits, and mini donkeys. They have learned self-sufficiency and are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others.
