107 Making Gnomes as Home Decor

Making the mythical creature called gnomes. A diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy, first introduced by Paracelsus in the 16th century and later adopted by more recent authors including those of modern fantasy literature. The character has taken on many personalities depicted in all parts of the world. The class will create gnomes during the first session, glaze during the second session and pick up finished work on the third.
Bill Capshaw
Bill Capshaw is a member of the Advisory Board of the Oak Ridge Art Center where he oversees the planning and operation of the pottery studio and teaches beginning to advanced classes. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (ceramics) in 1971 and a Master of Fine Arts (printing process) in 1974. In addition to teaching at the Art Center, he has given workshops at facilities such as the Appalachian Center for Crafts, Arrowmont, John C. Campbell Folk School, and Vanderbilt University. As a professional artist he competes locally and nationally, has received many awards, and is represented in many museum collections.
