320 Early Years in the Atomic City

This class will be a presentation of the early years of the city of Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project, as seen through the lens of Ed Westcott. Ed was the official photographer during the Manhattan Project. His photos are displayed throughout the city of Oak Ridge.
Don Hunnicutt
Don Hunnicutt is a native Oak Ridger born in 1944. His mother, Beatrice Hunnicutt was a stay-at-home mother and his father, Edwin Hunnicutt, was in the guard department at Y-12. Don graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1962 and then attended Tennessee Tech University and Fulton Vocational School. In 1968 he began a 34-year career at Y-12, retiring in 2005. Don is a member of the Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association. He serves on the board and volunteers at the Oak Ridge History Museum as a docent and city tour guide.
