406 Aging in Place: Guidelines for Bath and Kitchen

As we age and prefer to stay in our homes, there are several adaptations that can be made to make our master bath and kitchen areas safer. This class will identify those recommendations and show many examples on how to adapt your home to allow you to safely age in place.
Judy Gooch
Judy Gooch received her undergraduate degree from Carson Newman University and her master’s degree in furnishings in interiors from the University of Georgia. From 1981 to 1993 she served as an adjunct professor teaching interior design courses at Carson Newman. Since 1993, Judy has been a free-lance interior designer serving residential clients in east Tennessee. She has received two national “Designer of the Year” first place awards, and two first runner-up awards for projects submitted to the Interior Design Society professional organization. Judy has served on the board of directors for Girls, Inc., the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce Housing committee, the Oak Ridge Public School Education Foundation Board, and the Roane State Community College Foundation Board. Judy is the past President of Altrusa of Oak Ridge, and its Foundation. She is also the immediate past president of the Knoxville Chapter of the Interior Design Society and currently serves on the National Interior Design Society Board of Directors.
